How to Set Up Your Product Description Format

With Valuna, you can define how product descriptions are structured across your store by configuring a Product Description Format. This ensures your descriptions are consistent, well-structured, and on-brand — while AI handles the content generation.

What Is a Format?

A format is a predefined structure that determines how product content is written and displayed in your webshop. It defines the building blocks of your description — such as headings, lists, and paragraphs — and the order they appear in.

Two Ways to Create a Format

When setting up your Product Description format, you have two options:

1. Manually Create

Build your format from scratch by adding individual components.

  • You choose which components to include: Header, List, or Paragraph

  • You arrange them in the order you want

  • Components do not include a purpose — meaning the AI won't know what a specific heading or paragraph is meant to communicate

Best for teams that want quick, straightforward control over their description structure.

2. Upload a File

Let AI analyze an example product description and generate a format for you.

  • You upload an HTML file of one of your existing product descriptions

  • AI analyzes the structure and creates a format automatically

  • Each component gets an AI-generated purpose, so the AI understands what each section is meant to convey (e.g. "Highlight key product features" or "Summarize product benefits")

Best for teams that already have a description style they want to replicate consistently.

How to Create a Format Manually

  1. Go to Brand Voice Configuration

  2. Open the Product Description section

  3. Under Format Type, select Manually Create

  4. Click Add Component to start building your format

  5. For each component, choose the type and configure its settings:

Header

  • Options: h2, h3, h4, h5

Paragraph

  • Length options: short, medium, long

List

  • Number of items: 3 to 7

  1. Arrange the components in the order you want them to appear by dragging them into position

  2. Optionally toggle Bold and Italics preferences for the output

  3. Click Generate Test Output to preview your format with a real product

  4. Once satisfied, click Save Brand Voice to apply

Example Manual Format

A typical product description format might look like:

1. Header (h2)
2. List (3 items)
3. Paragraph (medium)

This would generate a description with a heading, followed by a short bullet list and a medium-length paragraph — applied consistently across all your products.

How to Create a Format by Uploading a File

  1. Go to Brand Voice Configuration

  2. Open the Product Description section

  3. Under Format Type, select Upload a File

  4. Click Upload Format to open the upload dialog

  5. Drag and drop or click to select a file containing an example HTML product description

  6. Click Analyze File

  7. Valuna's AI will analyze the structure and generate a format with components and their purposes

  8. Review the generated format and adjust if needed

  9. Click Save Brand Voice to apply

What to Upload

Upload an HTML file (or a text file containing HTML) of one of your best product descriptions. This should represent the structure and style you want to replicate across your catalog. The AI will extract the structural pattern — not the specific content — and use it as your format template.

Manual vs. Upload: Key Difference

The main difference between the two approaches is component purpose.

  • Manual: You define the structure (e.g. a heading followed by a list), but the AI decides what content to put in each component without specific guidance.

  • Upload: The AI not only detects the structure but also assigns a purpose to each component (e.g. "This heading introduces the product category" or "This list highlights key specifications"). This means the generated descriptions are more targeted and context-aware.

If you have existing descriptions you're happy with, uploading is the recommended approach.

Preview Before Saving

Before finalizing your setup, click Generate Test Output to preview how your product descriptions will look for real products. This costs 1 credit and helps you validate structure, component order, and readability before applying it store-wide.

Save Your Configuration

Once you're happy with the preview, click Save Brand Voice to apply your Product Description format.

Your descriptions will now be generated consistently, automatically, and in line with your brand — at scale.
